• It travels to the anterior superior iliac spine, where it anastomoses with the ascending branch of the lateral femoral circumflex artery.
• The inferior division crosses the gluteus minimus obliquely to the greater trochanter, distributing branches to the gluteal muscles and anastomoses with the lateral femoral circumflex artery.
• The arteries which form this plexus are the superior lateral genicular arteries, the descending genicular artery, the descending branch of lateral femoral circumflex artery, and the anterior tibial recurrent artery.
• It divides into branches which supply the integument of the groin, the superficial fascia, and the superficial subinguinal lymph glands, anastomosing with the deep iliac circumflex, the superior gluteal and lateral femoral circumflex arteries.
• Of these, the superior division, continuing the original course of the vessel, passes along the upper border of the gluteus minimus to the anterior superior spine of the ilium ( ASIS ), anastomosing with the deep iliac circumflex artery and the ascending branch of the lateral femoral circumflex artery.
